This project is a recreational and livestock pond built north of Douglas, WY. We performed the entire project in-house Design-Build with Western Heritage Consulting & Engineering performing survey and engineering, and WURX performing construction. The presence of shallow groundwater was identified during the geotechnical investigation and design considerations took this into account. Source water sampling and analysis was performed for chemical composition of the source water which is ground water pumped from distant wells. Earth- work was balanced to create a cold water fish habitat lined pond with approximately an acre surface area, with the intent of supporting trout species (at 5200 feet in elevation). Approximately 5000 CY of material was moved and compacted to form the embankment, with installation of a liner, and liner cover with fish habitat including natural sand bars. Additional recreational features were added to the pond including a beach and shallow area, strategic diving boulders, zip-line, and irrigated grass and reclamation areas. The surrounding site was reclaimed and offsite water conveyance pipe was installed to supply water to the pond.
