This erosion control and fish passage project was contracted by Wyoming Game & Fish to restore the fish passage on the North Laramie River by removing two irrigation diversion barriers. The project consisted of regrading approximately 400 feet of river, importing and relocating existing large boulders, installing engineered stream materials and planting woody vegetation to restore the function of the river, reducing velocities and vertical barriers. The design was a natural geomorphologic design using hard armoring and stream design with natural vegetation and fabric encapsulated soils to restore the function. Removal of wooden and concrete pile, gabion baskets, and concrete chutes drop structures and fish barriers. Material was mined on site and graded for the engineered stream channel, and boulders and aggregate sorted and grading, consisting of over 2700 Cubic Yards of placed material. Reclamation and construction included live staking willows, and reseeding and mulching of the disturbed areas and closure of the mining operations.
