Our team successfully completed the rehabilitation of the South Spring Creek Reservoir, restoring the dam’s safety and performance in line with WHCE’s approved Dam Safety Permit plans. The project involved removing necessary trees and vegetation, excavating about 6,000 cubic yards of embankment, and placing roughly 6,500 cubic yards of moisture-conditioned fill material to reinforce the dam.
We replaced the aging outlet works, including the inlet and outlet structures, headgate, and wheel block, and partially removed two existing pipes, safely abandoning the remaining sections with flow fill. A new anti-seep collar drain was installed to control seepage, and a steel cut-off wall was constructed for the auxiliary spillway. Fresh riprap was placed on all disturbed areas of the dam face, using imported aggregate and antiseep materials as needed.
Minimal dewatering was required and managed with a small cofferdam and a single trash pump. The entire project was completed efficiently in about four weeks of construction, with additional time for mobilization and site cleanup. Final seeding and reclamation were performed by the ranch owner, leaving the site stable and restored.
This project showcases our ability to deliver complex reservoir rehabilitation safely, on time, and with lasting results.
